The region has much to offer. If you're not yet sure what activities you can enjoy during your holiday in the Algarve in 2024, we're here to help!

While the Algarve is renowned for its beaches, there's much more beyond the sand and sea. There are various activities to explore Lagos and the surrounding area. Have you considered seeing the city from a new perspective? Perhaps from the sea?

1.     Boat Trip along the Lagos Coast

This is undoubtedly a must-do activity on your Algarve holiday list for 2024. Not only will it offer a different perspective of Lagos, but you'll also have the chance to explore various caves and discover many hidden beaches along the coast. There are many routes available, all promising a pleasant day with the sea breeze.

Our partners offer a range of trips: around Lagos Bay (lasting 4 hours and 30 minutes), to the most beautiful caves (lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes or 2 hours), and the option to see the friendly dolphins along our coast (lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes). To book your boat trip along the Lagos coast, please visit our reception.

2.     Kayak Trips in Lagos

Gather your family or friends and connect with nature like never before with this activity. Explore the sea and caves along the Lagos coast while learning about its history on a kayak tour. Paddle between natural arches, admire the beauty of Ponta da Piedade from an eco-friendly boat and combine exercising with this experience.

Our partner’s instructors will guide you on a fascinating kayaking journey, with stops at various beaches in Lagos, some of which are only accessible by sea.

This activity is seasonal. Kayaking trips run from March to October and are always subject to weather and navigation conditions.

3.     Jeep Tour in the Algarve

Have you ever imagined exploring the Costa Vicentina in a jeep? This protected coastal area, full of natural beauty, offers a stunning landscape where nature meets the sea. If you'd rather enjoy the sunset in the mountains, book this activity at the Serra de Monchique. If you're looking to escape the tourist hotspots and discover the authenticity of the Algarve in 2024, end your day at a traditional winery or visit an old pottery in Porches.

These and other activities in the Algarve can be enjoyed aboard our partners' jeeps. Be sure to book your tour in advance at our reception.

4.     Hovercraft Experience in the Algarve

The hovercraft is an all-terrain vehicle that delivers moments of pure adrenaline. Capable of moving across land, water, and air, this vehicle offers a unique experience. For beginners, driving the hovercraft can be challenging, but you'll always have the support of expert instructors.

About a 15-minute drive from the Belmar Spa & Beach Resort, you'll find the perfect spot to experience this thrilling activity. Located in Mexilhoeira Grande, a small parish near the Ria de Alvor, this is the ideal destination to enjoy an exciting hovercraft adventure during your holiday.

5.     Benagil Caves Tour

Benagil is a quaint fishing village on the southern Algarve coast, celebrated not just for its charm but also for the Benagil Cave. Featuring a ceiling opening and turquoise waters, it stands as one of the Algarve’s iconic landmarks.

Spend a full day aboard a catamaran departing from Lagos or Portimão. Sail past the impressive rock formations of Algar Seco, then head towards Benagil. On smaller boats, you can get up close to the famous cave. To finish, disembark on a secluded beach and enjoy delicious Algarve delicacies.

You can book the Benagil Cave tour at the Belmar Resort reception.

6.     "Boneca" Rock Formation in Carvoeiro

In Algar Seco, Carvoeiro, you’ll find the famous rock formation known as “Boneca.” This series of natural sculptures, shaped over centuries by wind and sea, features natural pools in the rocks. The formations at Boneca resemble windows and balconies and are accessible by land. The name “Boneca” was given to the rock because it resembles a doll when viewed from the sea. Entering the cave, you’ll feel as if you’re on a terrace with the sea on the horizon.

The caves can be visited by boat or, as previously mentioned, on foot, through a labyrinth of stairs with 134 steps, mostly carved by nature.

We recommend visiting at sunrise or sunset, a 35-minute drive from the Belmar Resort to Algar Seco in Carvoeiro.
